New product: Colgate PerioGard toothpaste

People who have gingivitis experience irritated, swollen gums.

A new toothpaste from Colgate can help. It promises to reduce gum bleeding and inflammation through its antibacterial ingredients, as well as helping prevent plaque build-up and cavities. 

The toothpaste comes in two types: Gum Care and Gum Care + Sensitivity. 

Colgate also released a matching toothbrush, the Colgate PerioGard Gum Protection Toothbrush. It sells for $5.47 and comes in soft and ultrasoft.

More than half of Canadians—65%—have bleeding or inflamed gums, according to a survey commissioned by Colgate-Palmolive. Of those, 52% take minimal action to resolve it or ignore it completely. 

“When we learned that more than half of those suffering from bleeding or inflamed gums fail to take appropriate action to protect their health, this concerned us,” Jenn Porter, general manager of Colgate Canada, said in a press release. “At Colgate, we're proud to now offer an effective and affordable at-home solution to help Canadians treat the cause of their symptoms.”
