NEW PRODUCT: SnapSlide Child-Resistant Rx Caps

SnapSlide has developed a line of accessible child-resistant caps that people can open with one hand.

The no-torque, ergonomic design is more accessible for patients with trouble opening regular child-resistant caps. Tens of millions of North Americans do, SnapSlide said, because of amputations, strokes, arthritis and other disabilities and diseases.

The SnapSlide lid stays attached to the bottle at all times. To use it, people push a slider down and then forward. That opens a space to pour medication from. To close the bottle, users push the slider back in, which makes an audible snap.

Because they have a smaller space for pills to come through when poured out, the caps can make dosing easier. They also have environmental benefits, as they’re 27% lighter than the average child-resistant cap, use less plastic and take up less space during shipping.

In focus groups, 90% of consumers preferred SnapSlide to traditional caps, and two-thirds said they would be more loyal to brands that adopted SnapSlide.

“The SnapSlide prescription vial caps have the potential to be better for all and life-changing for many,” Rocky Batzel, inventor and CEO of SnapSlide, said in a press release. “For consumers with physical limitations, the cap provides convenience, accessibility, safety, and independence. For retail chains, it has the potential to transform child-resistant packaging from an undifferentiated commodity into a competitive advantage.”
